Whenever I'm meeting a new group or a new crowd, somebody will ask if I am a Korean, Chinese or Japanese. Most of them really think I am a Korean. Maybe that's because of the Asian-dominated face I possess, more on the eyes. It's almond-shaped but turns to slit when smiling or laughing, just like Koreans. I ain't an avid fan of Kpop because I can't sing their songs. I can only sing on the chorus part because it has a little bit of English, at least. Here in the Philippines, guys do adore Korean Girl Groups such as SNSD or mostly known as Girl's Generation who sang Run Devil Run, Wonder Girls who made Nobody so famous, and 2ne1 who popularized I don't care. You can also hear gals screaming at the top of their lungs over their dream boys such as Lee Min Ho, Taeyang, Super Junior, Big Bang etc. When we see these performers, we really are amazed on how they look, how they dance, how they sing, how they talk and how they owned CUTENESS OVERLOAD.
Subliminally, we are being invaded by Koreans. How do I say so? Well, everywhere you go you can hear Gangnam Style and Gentlemen playing, not only that, when these songs start playing, we can't help but dance to the beat. Scattered are the people who I can say are Korean-wanna-be because they dress like one. They show it on their clothes and hairstyles. It just depends whether they look good wearing it or maybe they look really trying hard.
An Example of Phil's Korean-like Male Group- XLR8 |
Koreans really look good. They have white, flawless and pimple-free skin. I cannot even see their pores. Plus, both Korean men and women own that effortlessly beautiful hair. And the last thing I am jealous about them is their long and slim legs. Koreanas (Filipinos add "a" for feminine noun and "o" for masculine noun) are more comfy to dance in heels than in flats. Seldom I see them in flats actually. And about the Koreanos, they wear clothes that are naturally hot to them only. It's like they took the authority in those clothes, because when you let an Americano wear it, you might think he's a gay.
What you may not know about Korea...
Here are some fun facts and trivia about Korea.

- They consider fruits as jewelries. When you are in Korea and you wanted to buy fruits, you are in the wrong place. Fruits are very expensive in this country and the most costly fruit there is watermelon which costs near 30,000 won!

- It's okay for them to drink in public such as in school which is a real no-no for us.

- Public Vehicles are clean, fast and cheap. Fast? So I suppose there's no heavy traffic there. You can easily imagine it very far from Phils.
What some of my friends tell about them...
From a Filipino American friend of mine who has Korean Friends. He described them as kind, friendly and funny people.
From my friend in New Zealand who has a Korean best friend. He describes Koreans as honest , upfront and meany blunt.
From my Filipino Photographer friend who has Korean friends. He can easily compare them to Filipinos for their friendliness and kindness but are sensitive when it comes to food. If I know, they really like spicy and garlicky food.
